Opened for play in 1926, the C.B. McDonald/Seth Raynor masterpiece, the Course at Yale remains the top rated collegiate course in the country (Golfweek) and is the 83rd ranked course in the world (Golf magazine 2020 -2021).

Known for its huge well bunkered greens, its undulating fairways, and varied blind shots, the course was shuttered for most of the 2020 season due to Covid-19. A lack of maintainence raised concerns about the future of the course.

Enter Peter Palacios as the new General Manager in August 2020 and Jeffrey Austin as the new Superintendant in April 2021. In September 2021, Yale affirmed its commitment to the Course by announcing the engagement of world renowned golf course architect Gil Hanse to undertake a 20-24 month renovation.

Gil Hanse said in a Yale Athletics statement. “The tremendous history of the design, the original significance of the course, and the potential that exists within its landscape are truly staggering. In restoring the scale of the design and the property, we have the opportunity to reacquaint the golf world with one of the landmark courses in the history of American golf course architecture.”

We look forward to this update from Peter Palacios and Scott Lukas.
