Join YAAM for a very special trip to the Maryland Museum of Military History!

A hidden gem of Baltimore located in the historic Armory, the Maryland Museum of Military History commemorates the history of Marylanders and the state of Maryland’s role in military conflicts with a variety of permanent and traveling traditional and digital exhibits. We will be traveling to the museum on Saturday, December 2nd – which also happens to be the day of the “Annual Review” (similar to a Founder’s Day) of the Maryland National Guard!

We will be treated to a private tour by Joe Balkoski, curator of the museum and official historian of Maryland’s 29th Infantry Division. We will be able to see the entire museum, then linger to examine exhibits in more detail and chat with the many docents and current troops expected to be present on this special day. When the museum shuts down at 2 pm. we can stay for the Annual Review festivities on the Museum’s “Drill Floor” – music and special speakers included!

Logistics:

– Expect to arrive at the museum by 11am. Parking will be tight (the Armory Lot is unavailable due to the special event), but nearby city/state parking lots will be available (generally empty on weekends) or in nearby Bolton Hill.

– Security will be relatively tight. Everyone must have a photo ID, and please do not bring any backpacks or large bags.

– As you walk onto the Armory grounds, your ID will be checked – please say that you are there for the Museum Open House and are guests of the curator, Joe Balkoski.

– Photos are perfectly fine.
